Gradings & Promotions
The one question that most students have, is “When am I, going to be graded?”. It is for this reason that Sensei Steve has taken on the responsibility of overseeing all gradings. Students are told they are eligible when Sensei Steve believes they are ready for that particular grading. Attendance and hard work during class will be taken into account in determining grading times. Please do not compare your progress with those around you. As hard as that might be, only gauge your progress by your own standards. Instead of asking “Why am I not being graded?” ask yourself “How far have I come since my last grading?”. We, at Blue Jiu Jitsu, do not want to get into handing out belts just to keep students and parents happy. Each belt has to be earned or else it is worthless.
For those students who come to Blue Jiu Jitsu with a belt from another club. The student will be able to wear that particular belt if it is deemed appropriate by the instructors. If the belt is of a higher level than the instructors believe should’ve been awarded to the student, that particular student might stay at that level until he/she has met the criteria for promotion to the next level.
For any questions concerning gradings & promotions, please forward your questions to Sensei Steve in person or here by e-mail.
