Classes

Classes are only being held for persons over the age of 18 at the present moment. This may change in the future. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday night between 7:30 - 9:30 pm. No experience is needed for you to join.

Cost for classes depend on your Jiu Jitsu experience. I believe that those more experienced should pay a lower monthly fee than those starting out. The reason behind this is that a higher belt is expected to help out with training the lower belts in the club. A higher belt is helping pass on the knowledge of Jiu Jitsu and therefore should be compensated for this. Cost for classes according to belt is listed below.

White Belt $50 month or $500 year (most students do not stay at a belt for a year, therefore prices would be compensated)
Yellow Belt $45 month or $450 year
Orange Belt $40 month or $400 year
Green Belt $35 month or $350 year
Blue Belt $30 month or $300 year
Brown Belt $25 month or $250 year
Brown/Black Belt $20 month or $200 year
Black Belt no cost (you might be at this belt for many years but considering the price, I don't think you will mind.)

Minimum time to be studying at lower belts (white - green) is six months between gradings and at higher belts (blue - brown/black) is eight months. This does not mean that you will be graded exactly every six months but rather when the instructors think you are ready and deserving of being graded.

*When you calculate the overall average cost per month from White belt to Black belt it averages out to be $33.75 a month which is cheaper than any other club out there. This does not mean you aren't learning as much but rather you will learn more here thanks to small class sizes. To put it short, this is the best bang for the buck for those who are truly committed to learning that you will find anywhere.

Grading costs
All gradings cost $25. This will also pay for a certificate and new belt if successful. Black belt grading does not qualify for this price as the black belt grading is not held by Blue Jiu Jitsu. All those going for their black belt are graded by the National Canadian Jiu Jitsu board that usually holds two gradings a year. One in the spring (May) and one in the fall (November). Prices for the black belt are at the discretion of the CJA but are currently less than one hundred dollars.

Equipment needed
Very little is actually needed in the way of equipment. The most important piece of equipment that is needed is a single weave Judo Gi (uniform). I do sell all equipment that is needed and will provide a price on equipment upon request. After getting a good Gi you will require things along the way like bag gloves, hand wraps, boxing gloves, head protector, mouth guard. Really the sky is the limit when shopping for stuff but in reality Jiu Jitsu can be done with only a Gi, a willing student & partner.
